Remote Working Part 1 – DIY Guide – Overview

Quickbooks online

Obviously not everyone is allowed to work remotely as some vocations require us to be at their place of work or travel to perform their work face to face. But for those of us given the opportunity to work remotely then I thought it would be useful to share what I have learned and share some practical advice by putting it on the net with the sole objective of providing useful advice for adapting to remote working or managing remote workers.

I would caution you that there are a lot of self proclaimed ‘gurus’ on the net who will try and get you to buy guides for enormous sums of cash, believe me you don’t need to do this.

I am blessed to be allowed to work anywhere I choose and just about everyone who asks me what work I do wants to know how I am able to work remotely. Don’t get the wrong idea I am still refining the science of remote working as everyday I discover tribes on the Internet who show me new approaches and I am repeatedly uncovering new systems and methods that make my life simpler and make me more effective.

Throughout the past 7 years I have steadily adapted my working practices to let me to do just about all of my work remotely with a kit of internet tools and rigid self management. One day whilst searching the web I unearthed Quickbooks online and this inspired me as to what just might be possible. My discovery of ’cloud’ based ‘on demand’ small business accounting software was a significant event for me and the start of my ‘remote working career.

I have got to inform you up front that productively working remotely is as much about the systems as it is about self discipline. Working remotely also means imparting to your team members, supervisors and customers as to what they can expect and how they will stay in touch with you.

In ‘Remote Working Part 2 – Tips on self management’ I show you how to focus.

Mobile Phone Promotions with Automatic Cashback

These Days, many cell telephone shops are supplying automatic money back on mobile telephones. This may raise some questions.  Why would a mobile telephone retailer give cash back, and how will they give it back automatically? When you buy a mobile telephone thru a retailer, you are actually working with 2 companies, the network service supplier, and the retailer.

The retailer gets paid a commission by the network service provider for making them money by selling contracts for their services. The shops get customers by offering a variety of mobile phone deals.  Depending on the retailer, they offer 11 months free line rental line rental, free phones, or even free gifts. One of these deals is automated cash back.  The reason is because the retailer can not change the cost of the monthly plan thru the provider, but they can provide you with money to compensate for the money you will pay in the future.

Say a buyer wished to barter for a 40% savings on their contract for twelve months.  With automatic cash back, what would happen is the retailer would just give the consumer whatever they need to save upfront in cash. A corresponding deal is known as free or discounted line rental.  With discounted line rental {, however ,} the customer pays all bills, full price upfront, then submits documentation and past bills to receive their money later on down the line. Automated cash back was invented as an alternative to this in order to avoid lots of the hassles associated with discounted line rental.  The guidelines in a number of cases were terribly strict, and unless a purchaser was very organized and very vigilant, they wouldn’t receive their remission.

Having the customer be paid right away is assurance of being a mistake free transaction by both the retailer and the customer. The easiest way to find an automatic cash back mobile telephone deal is online.  Online stores have far less overhead, as a rule, than a physical shop.  phone comparison sites are the most helpful for this. You can pick just about any mix of telephones and plans and see exactly how much you will save straight away. Then compare comparison sights, see which ones will give you the best deals and promotions.  Dependent on who you go to in order to get your telephone, you could perhaps get a free phone, free gift, and automated cash back.  The super frugal could even use the cash they saved and got through rebate to pay their future bills.

With the time and cash saved by going thru an online retailer, in numerous cases it is possible for people to have phones they once believed that they couldn’t afford.

Taking A Look At The BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Handsfree Device

BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Handsfree

There are many times when you just cannot devote the use of your hands to holding a cellphone. You need a device that lets you still answer calls and talk while performing certain tasks. Nowhere is this more needed than while driving a vehicle. But Bluetooth headsets can be bulky and for some people it can hurt their ears. So what alternative do they have? Speakerphone on your cell phone still requires you to push buttons. Thankfully, there is an alternative to the bulky earpiece or the speakerphone feature. It is the BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Handsfree.

What is the BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Handsfree device? It is a Bluetooth device that you simply clip to your belt or your vehicle’s sun visor. To set it up you upload your contacts from your phone so that when a call comes in, the device uses a “Text to Talk” feature that is supposed to announce the caller’s name as you have it saved in your address book. You answer the call by saying “okay” and you do not have to worry about pushing any buttons.

These are the technical specs that are used by the company to sell the Supertooth 3. So what is the real deal with this device? Is it as good as the product description says it is? The reviews are very mixed. Some people love the fact that the Supertooth 3 is so easy to use but others have some real issues with the device. Many have reported that saying “okay” to answer a call did not work very well. Others complained that the Supertooth 3 did not announce the caller’s name but instead gave the number. Another common complaint was background noise. If you are driving in a vehicle that is not well insulated, then the background noise made it almost impossible to use for business calls. But there are some good reviews. Most users had no problem uploading their contact list. One user said it only took him 10 minutes to upload 1500+ contacts from his Blackberry. That is pretty fast.

Yes, there are some complaints about the BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Handsfree device. But for the most part many users seem to be pretty happy with it. As long as you keep in mind some of the issues that others have experienced, you should not have any trouble. You cannot expect it to give perfect clarity if you are driving with the top down. But it does a good job of keeping your hands on the wheel, which is where they belong.

Mobile Phone Deals: Getting the Best One

If you are looking at different mobile phone deals there are a few ways to go. Not only can you find multiple sites and offers on the same packages, you can also find multiple packages and that may prove one of the most effective starting points for anyone that is looking at new mobile phones. The best way to approach your search for mobile phone deals is to know what you are looking for. Decide if you want a particular service plan or a particular phone first. Knowing that you want one may limit your choice in others. That can make finding the best mobile phone deals easier.

In general the good mobile phone deals, if you are looking at new mobile phones, involve agreeing to a contract. You will usually get high-end phones for hundreds of dollars less this way. Other ways that you can save are to look for used and refurbished mobile phones. These do not usually involve a contract stipulation, but you may find that the model of mobile phone that you want seems quite expensive compared to prices advertised by wireless carriers. For example, the Nokia N97 unlocked is $999 without a plan, but if you agree to a plan you pay much less upfront but will ultimately pay for the phone over the term of the contract.

You can search for service providers pages for mobile phone deals that include rebates similar to the one above. You can also search online for the phone of your choice and then attempt to find any compatible service provider that is offering a rebate on the phone. Often this is as simple as typing the mobile phone’s model name and the word “rebate” into your favorite search box.

If you are interested in finding the best mobile phone deals available without the purchase of a plan you can try some of the usual shopping sites. You can find a huge range of the latest phones at competitive prices on Amazon. If you want the freedom to choose any plan you will want the freedom of an unlocked phone. You may be able to unlock the phone yourself, or there are services that will unlock a phone for you if the phone you purchase is locked. You can also try searching on sites like NexTag that collect information from multiple sites. They have a category specifically for mobile phones. You can also find deals for phones with service plans on these sites.

One of the most important tips to help you get the best mobile phone deals on new mobile phones and old ones is to ensure that you have chosen the best phone for you. Unless the phone is free with the plan that you need there is the possibility that you are paying for something that you do not really need. Spending a little more on a service plan may save you money now on your phone, but when you consider the amount you will pay during the time of the contract are you coming out ahead? Those are the sort of questions that answer the question: Which mobile phone deal is best for me?

Cell Phones Are Us-Get Yours

Technical details and features should never be overlooked or ignored when you need to buy cell phones. The issue with many clients is the confusion created by devices jam-packed with features. With full Internet access, incorporated TV, MP3 players, 3D game functions and built-in video cameras, a phone is no longer just a phone, but much more.

Check the caller ID display and the external screen and see if the phone meets your needs. More sophisticated devices even show the picture of the caller, if you have previously included one in attachment to the contact entry. Going hand in hand with such features, there comes the peculiarity of the dialing mode. Classic phones include just phone book selection while more advanced ones use voice dialing.

If you travel a lot and use the headset most of the time, it is ideal to buy cell phones that have the voice dialing features. For the same purpose of rapid communication, choose a device Internet access, instant messaging and text messaging. Such cell phones have WAP or Wireless Access protocol incorporated to match the necessary Internet features. When going into these service forms, you’ll also learn about the right way to deal with the different functions for the online mode.

Then, ask yourself whether you need a camera and a video recorder. When people buy cell phones they usually consider such features as part of the package, but they usually end up paying more for a device they hardly use. Multimedia plans do vary a lot, and it is always wise to be well informed about the kind of product you purchase. Be aware of your needs and choose a model that works best for you and your activities.

The place where you buy cell phones is equally important. Would you turn to an authorized dealer? Is it more convenient to get a phone together with a contract? Is the Internet a good shopping variant? Are interested in unlocked cellulars more? These are just some of the questions you should search answers to before paying for a certain device. Remember that the price tag differs significantly between the unlocked and locked offers.

And finally, mobile accessories could also be important for some phone users. Most of the time such items are available when you buy cell phones or they can be bought some other time from a different retailer.

Reverse Phone Number Look Up - Do you know the difference between landline phone and cell phone?

Sometimes people would like to run a reverse phone number look up to get owner’s information associated with a phone number , such as name, address, etc. It will be better if you can get it without payment . But, the actual situation is , sometimes you can get it for free, but sometimes you can’t.

In a reverse phone number look up , if it is a home phone number, then it is very likely you can get the information for free . If it belongs to a cell phone , then it is very likely you can’t get it for free . Why?

Because the landline phone owner’s information is public information. It is very easy for others to get this information by going to some public directories, such as white pages, or some web sites. When a user is signing up for a home phone service, the phone company will always ask if you want to remove your information from the public directory by paying an extra fee. Most likely you will say “no” in order to save money . Therefore, your name and phone number will be listed in the public directory . When people run a reverse phone number search by entering your phone number into a public directory , they can find it for free.

If you are signing up for a cell phone, the cell phone company won’t put your information in the public phone directory. But this doesn’t mean it will keep your information as a secret. It may sell your information to other reverse cellphone look up companies, which provide provide paid services to the public. Your information is still listed in some directories. When people want to find out your information from your cell phone, they can’t find it in the public directory . They need to pay the fee to run a reverse cell phone number lookup in order to get the information .

You should go Hands Free to stay safe on our roads!

Hand Held Cell Phones Can Drive You To The Grave!
Cold Hard Fact or Myth? (excuse the pun there)
What the heck do you believe these days?
Beneath are some comments from Wikipedia on “Hands Free“. I have interlaced them with my own view. See if you agree!

“Driving while using a hands-free device is not safer than using a hand held mobile phone, as concluded by case-crossover studies”.
Yeah Right! If you agree with this then you possess at least four arms and you are bordering on being an octopus or octopussy depending on your sex.

“The amplified “cognitive workload” involved in holding a conversation, not the use of hands, causes the increased risk”.
At least I agree with half the statement. Kind of like seeing a ‘babe’ or ‘hunk’ on the footpath and trying not to be mentally side tracked.

“One notable omission to that conclusion is a report by headset producer Plantronics, which found 71 percent of the trial subjects steered more accurately, 100 percent had quicker brake pedal reaction times, and 92 percent maintained a more consistent speed when using a headset opposed to handheld”.
Clearly! How can you argue with facts from a study by the producer of a hands free device! If you are a conspiracy theorist, biased they might seem considering the source but actually I AGREE! (in general).

“The consistency of increased accident risk between hands-free and hand held cell phone use is at odds with legislation in lots of locations that prohibit hand held  mobile phone use but allows hands-free”.
I assume I identify what they are saying!!!!
Do I genuinely care! What on earth happened to
good old commonsense? Here’s a thought! Get a Hands Free Car Kit!

“Dialing a mobile phone is more distracting than chatting
on a mobile phone, and hands-free devices that offer voice-dialing might
decrease or remove that
increased risk”.
Commonsense again I think but isn’t it astounding how millions of dollars
worldwide are sunk into commissioned studies where a immense percentage of findings turn out to be founded on common sense.
Have you lost your senses?”

The unfortunate reality is that, of all who have ventured without calamity in this realm, there will forever be a sizeable number who will declare that their ability to multi-task will always permit them to utilize and control a cell phone without any loss of cognitive or physical ability. What is more amusing is that of that number  I reckon at least 50% will be male! Male’s multi-tasking? (Might require the Mythbusters here)
You of the feminine gender take notice. “We will govern the planet once again….. eventually! …..someday!”

Those of us who drive know that there are scores of distractions and sorry to say for some a simple distraction has lead to catastrophe. Was it a cell phone? Was it a visual interruption? Or was it a dropped CD into the passengers foot well that simply had to be retrieved and played ‘cos it had the badest song in the world on it’?

If you are barreling down the street in a ton of shimmering metal on your own, no cars in view, no lampposts, no girls in bikinis (this is mostly a male thing),  then who really cares what you do?

The truth is straightforward. In a world where we actually still claim that we care about our fellow man (aka person cos we are required to be politically correct you know!) we need to draw on what is usually recognized as commonsense.
YES! at 5 km/hr perhaps even 10km/hr we can handle virtually anything (even us guys) but at regular speeds most of us are not uncommonly talented. However, We will still battle for our rights to make our own decisions. We will not let ‘BIG BROTHER’ person (whatever) govern our lives. But unfortunately in some cases we actually need to stand back and ask ourselves. Was I still in absolute control when that s.o.b. veered into my traffic lane at speed on a jam packed motorway? Did I truly see that youngster walking out from behind that automobile now that I see her in my rear vision mirror?
Some legislation is rational even if it does strip away a little of our invincible shell.

If you still think you are indestructible then have a thought for the rest of us. ‘GO HANDSFREE’ and save some one else’s woe!

Synopsis: Mobile Phones (aka cell phones) are a brilliant technological DISTRACTION when driving. BUT! Now that that’s sorted let’s target the nastiest culprit of all ‘THE DRIVING TEXTER’

Is it possible that your mobile phone says something specific about you? What are the most popular brands and who favours them most?

Research seems to suggest that the kind of mobile you buy tells others a lot about you. For example, those who are into gadgets will have the current phones available so that they can play with all the accessories and gadgets that come with the mobile. Cost is no issue; it is no different to them having to have the latest games console or mp3 player! Comparably, those who like to go out at weekends will need a handset that is dependable enough to endure being dropped on the dance floor.Fashion conscious types will have a mobile phone which allows them alter the fascias- most likely to match their recently bought outfit. It is also likely that this type of personality will want a mobile that allows for free ringtones and free themes so that their mobile phone can be changed to match their clothes and mood.

These are just some of the types of personality traits that can supposedly determine the type of handset that you buy. So does the brand that you buy depend upon your personality too? – well the answer to this is yes! It is stated that LG’s are preferred by mums, middle- managers prefer the Nokia range and everyone under the age of 24 prefers a Motorola model. It seems that different types of customers are attracted to certain types of mobiles.

It seems that as mobile phones become more advanced and more common, it is more important to us what type of phone we purchase. It essentially does not matter which provider you are with; the main concern is what other people see when they look at your handset. This may certainly appear true, particularly for the younger generation. They want an current model that has a vast amount of functions. Whether it is being able to download a free ringtone or free theme, use Bluetooth, play games or access the internet, the type of phone you own is of particular importance to teenagers and twenty-somethings.

Unlocked Mobile Phones : Cell phone without the strings

Your mobile phone is a great communications tool. Your wireless carrier is a service provider. The two are not absolutely linked. In many phones the two are distinctly separate with a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM card) connecting the technology of your mobile phone to the service of your carrier. In many cases this is perfectly suitable. There are other times where you may be better off switching to another network to make and receive calls.

Here are some of the main benefits that may be available to you. When you purchase a mobile phone you may have the option of paying very little or nothing in exchange for participation in a contract with a wireless carrier. Contracts on mobile phones seem attractive as they let you get the phone you want with very little or no money paid for the handset upfront. However, in some cases, the wireless carrier may lock the phone so that it can only operate on their network. There are a number of explanations of the reasoning behind this. It’s a very common process amongst major mobile networks and can stop you accessing the full range of functions the handset offers. Many mobile phones can operate on different bands for maximum global coverage. Unlocked mobile phones can do this as can some locked phones. Unlocked mobile phones can also use multiple wireless carriers. Locked mobile phones cannot.

In some instances unlocking can require rather involved procedures of entering codes. To take advantage of the capacity to use multiple wireless carriers it will require the replacement of your SIM card.

There are two common occurrences when it may be beneficial to unlock your mobile phone. The first is when traveling. Depending on your service plan you may incur additional charges when traveling outside of a specific location. Those charges may be added by the minute and by the call. If you are traveling for any length of time those charges may add up to significant amounts. Unlocked mobile phones allow you to use local SIM cards thus avoiding roaming fees. You will also have a local phone number when you use a local SIM card. The other occurrence is at the end of your service contract. If you were not happy with the service, but want to keep the phone you may need to unlock the mobile phone to allow its use with another carrier’s SIM.

Upfront unlocked mobile phones can seem to cost more than locked phones on contracts. There is truth in this. You’ll be aware that most mobile phone deals will lock you into a long contract such as 24 months in order for the network to recoup the phone costs. With the contract often comes the lock. Without the contract (the lock) the mobile phone deals are not usually deals at all. You may pay three times as much for a new unlocked mobile phone without a contract. However, if you perform any alteration to your phone you may void the warranty. So, used unlocked mobile phones may not really achieve the price distinction of new ones. You may find that many used phones do not note whether they are unlocked.

Before you sign up for a contract, ask your network provider if they will provide unlocking information to you once your contract has been completed. There are also numerous services that will do it for you or inform you of how to do it for fee. There are benefits and learning more can help you determine if they are benefit enough for you.
